HISTORY
Established in January of 2000, the Nicky Wood Media Services, or NIMESE for short, is a non-profit, Kenyan-based
networking organization comprised of individuals from all facets of the entertainment industry. We understand that few of
us make it in Hollywood and Bellywood without the help and support of a team of other people (a "network").
Our purpose is to create the opportunity for people to make key contacts and develop solid industry relationships while
exchanging vital resources and providing support for career growth.
NIMESE meetings are typically held
the first Saturday of every month from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Each meeting is started
with announcements and the sharing of resources and information. Then, going around the room, everyone takes approximately
30 seconds in which to introduce themselves.
The next part of the meeting is devoted
to a guest speaker or special program which lasts about an hour-and-a-half.
The remaining hour is reserved for
networking and building relationships.

When
both NGOs (Non Governmental Organizations and CBOs (Community Based Organizations) were established in Africa, many people
become reluctant to not only work but the spirit of dependency was highly motivated. I don’t seek to deny the position
NGOs have played in the development of communities. But I also want to look it from development, participatory and sustainability
point of view. I believe that if the entrepreneur skills of the people were highly initiated in participatory development,
the level of development within Africa society would have flourished. Its good to build schools, hospitals churches and mosques, etc,
but if the infrastructure that is put in place does not lift the standard of living of the people, then there must be a problem
and in this case very serious one. Its in this perspective that I took risk to venture and promote the artistical works of
the people especially the youth. If I were born a singer, dancer, a teacher or actor, then it would be futile dream to train
me to be a doctor. Well I know leaders and abilities can be made on people, but the truth is that gifts and talents are in
born. Imagine constraining Michael Jackson in philosophy class or Charles Darwin in a music class. It doesn’t look real,
If you don’t believe me, at least ASK Billy Gates He will tell you a better story, then, you will see what I saw back
in my dream-to promote the youth at what they are good at. The greatest development of all times is to make people entrepreneual
in their abilities. Nimeses tents to promote the youths in all artistical works from drama to acting, dancing, drawing, painting,
poetry, movie coverage, script writing, script editing, production and all other artistical works, then the youth shall be
able to take a firm stand and pursue their abilities.
