"I have a dream", Janet a Nicky wood heroine declared
her dream to Nicholas Jimmy the CEO nickywood media services since her 1st year as a student at Daystar University while undertaking
community development as a major in undergraduate studies. "I took this course for the zeal of making the lives of the people
in our community better; especially the disadvantaged, orphans and the less fortunate. I have a dream that I believe in 10-20
years time would be fulfilled. After my graduation I would like to closely work with non-governmental organizations and the
government on community projects that would have a positive impact on the lives of the people in the community. I aspire to
find to ways to prevent and overcome poverty, ignorance, illiteracy and disease. I will achieve this through soliciting of
funds from organizations, the government and well wishers. I will initiate income generating projects among the local people
through providing them with capital to start basketry, pottery carpentry weaving and plantations (the profit from their sales
will improve their lives). I would also ensure that people have adequate water for their use, livestock and for irrigation.
I will encourage merry-go rounds for women to supplement their daily income. As a Christian I will encourage morality among
the people I work with and the community at large. This is by discouraging alcohol consumption among men, wife beating and
theft. I will address the issue of equality of sexes which will ensure the place of a woman in the society is respected especially
in areas of leadership and education. I do not intend to be proud of material wealth. I will use it wisely to help the needy
in the society, tithe and cater for my family needs. I would not look down upon the less fortunate in the society. As a Christian
crusader I will advocate for peace in families, communities, tribes and the nation at large. This will lessen fights, prejudice,
hostility and tribal clashes. I hope to see my country at peace without tribalism and discrimination. In addition I will take
counseling classes to help me with dealing with people’s issues like sorting marital problems and counseling drug and
alcohol addicts. In 20 years time I hope to grow spiritually through the word of God and by going to church. This will provide
me with a balance for my heart, mind, body and strength. I will balance my heart through the word of God; everyday meditation
and memorization of scriptures. This will ensure divine love, peace and joy in my heart. As the scripture says “out
of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks”, I will be careful to feed my heart with wisdom so as not to utter
vulgar or obscene words. I will feed my mind with knowledge and wisdom from inspirational books and scripture. I will try
to have good thoughts on other people so as to appreciate them. When hurt, I will deal wisely with the situation to avoid
stress, stroke and depression. I expect to grow in body and strength by eating healthy; avoiding starchy foods or junk that
can lead to chronic diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and heart diseases. I will engage in activities to
keep me fit like walking long distances, jogging, aerobics and running. I believe as my heart, mind body and strength prospers,
my soul prospers. I will ensure that my commitment to God is firm, spiritually strong through the word of God, listening to
inspirational music, reading inspirational materials and harboring good thoughts. All these dreams will be achieved through
my personal commitment and zeal. There are barriers that can make them take time or be terminated like not getting funding
and support of the government, my community and non-governmental organizations. Other setbacks are: losing focus on my goals
in life, lack of employment and unfair opportunities in the job market. I will be determined to make this dream come true
irrespective of the setbacks. I am optimistic that every aspiration though challenged it will prevail. My main role model
is Martin Luther. He had a dream of having racism scraped out of America and he achieved it through determination to see a
unified country. He left behind a legacy that will be remembered for generations. I would like to leave a legacy for my children
and others, help people achieve their dreams and foster leadership skills in generations to come. I have faith that God will
